When experiencing technical issues such as crashes, performance drops, or errors in V Rising, our support team may request specific files to help diagnose and resolve your problem effectively. Providing these files expedites troubleshooting and allows us to offer more accurate assistance.
What Files Should I Send?
When submitting a technical support inquiry at info@playvrising.com, please include the following files to help us diagnose the issue as efficiently as possible:
- Player Logs: Detailed records of your game session. These logs often highlight errors, warnings, or unusual behaviour.
- Server Logs (if applicable): If you're hosting or playing on a private server, these logs can help diagnose server-side issues.
- Save Files: Your current game state. These help us determine if the issue is related to your world or character progress.
- DxDiag Report: A diagnostic report of your system's hardware and drivers. Helpful for identifying compatibility or driver-related problems.
- Crash Dumps (if the game or server is crashing): These files provide detailed crash information that helps pinpoint the cause of a crash.
How to Locate These Files
1. Player Logs & Save Files
On a Windows PC, these files are stored in: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\
- The Player.log file is found in the root of this folder.
- Your save data is in the Saves\v1 folder (e.g., AutoSave_1, AutoSave_2, etc.).
To access the AppData folder if it’s hidden:
- Open File Explorer
- Click the View tab
- Check the box for Hidden items
2. Server Logs (for server administrators)
If you're hosting a dedicated or private server:
- Logs are typically found in the server installation directory, often under a folder named Logs or similar.
If you're using the VRisingServer tool, check: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\
3. DxDiag Report
To generate a DxDiag report on Windows:
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog
- Type dxdiag and press Enter
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information...
- Choose a location to save the .txt file and remember where you saved it
4. Crash Dumps
For client crashes, check:
- C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\backtrace\crashpad\reports\
- C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Temp\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Crashes\
For server crashes, use the same paths but replace VRising with VRisingServer:
- VRisingServer\backtrace\crashpad\reports\
- VRisingServer\Crashes\
💡 These folders may contain .dmp or .txt files related to recent crashes.
How to Send Your Files to Support
- Compress (zip) the requested files into a single archive to make uploading easier.
- Attach the archive to your support ticket or email when contacting logs@playvrising.com.
- If the files are too large for email, please upload them to a secure file-sharing service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer, and share the download link in your ticket.
Important Notes
- Please include a detailed description of your issue along with the files.
- Ensure you are sending files relevant to the problem you’re experiencing (e.g., recent logs and saves).
- Avoid sending personal files or data to protect your privacy.
