Common Issues and Fixes
With the launch of V Rising - Invaders of Oakveil, we would like to inform you about some common issues players may encounter and how to solve them.
If you do not see the issue you are experiencing below, please report it on our Bug Reports Dashboard.
Frequent Crashes:
Some files may not have been appropriately patched. Try repairing your game files via:
Steam > Right click on V Rising > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files
Stuck on a screen or crash before the Main Menu:
If you get stuck on a screen before the main menu (for example, the age gate screen), try the following:
- Delete the "v1", "v2", "v3", and “v4” folders at %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Settings (you can copy-paste this path into your file explorer). This will reset your game settings (graphics, sound, custom inputs, among others).
- Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date.
-
If the game crashes or freezes before the intro cinematic, playing the in-game videos might be an issue. Try launching with videos turned off via the following steps:
- 1.) Right-click the game in your Steam library.
- 2.) Select Properties > General and then type -noVideo into the text field under "Launch Options".
- 3.) Launch the game as usual.
Common Fixes to Try:
- Restart your PC
- Verify files: Steam > Right click on V Rising > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files
- Make sure your drivers are up to date
- Uninstall any mods
- Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
- Did none of the fixes listed above solve your issue? Please check if the problem you are experiencing has been reported on our Bug Reports Dashboard.
Missing .exe file or Server Hosting Issues:
If you are experiencing server hosting issues, please ensure your antivirus is not blocking the game.

Check out this guide on common server issues.
Controller Issues:
- See this guide for playing on a controller with a keyboard and mouse.
- If you have other controller issues, please try playing with a USB cable connected instead of Bluetooth to see if it fixes the problem.
- Ensure your controller drivers are up to date.
Frequent Connection/Rubberbanding Issues:
Try the following solutions if you’re experiencing frequent connection issues and/or rubberbanding.
- Reduce the number of threads running in the background
1. Start the game
2. Enable the in-game console via Options > General > Interface > Console Enabled
3. Open the console by pressing the button underneath the Escape button on your keyboard (for example "§" or "`", depending on your keyboard layout)
4. Write this in the console and press enter: JobThreads 1
This command will change the number of threads running in the background. To set it back to default in the future, write: JobThreads 4
-
Turn off autosave compression
- Select your server in the Load Game menu.
- Press the "Go to Directory" button to open the file explorer to the location where server files are stored.
- Locate the ServerHostSettings.json file. (Make a copy of this file before editing it, in case you need to revert it.)
- Open the file using a code or text editor like Notepad.
- Do the following changes, as shown in the image:
Original text:
Solution with added text:
a. Add a , (comma) to the last row before the }
b. Create a new line before the }
c. Add the text "CompressSaveFiles": false
d. If "CompressSaveFiles": true already exists in the file, skip the above steps and change true to false
- Save the document and restart the game.
Note: This will make autosaving faster, but the save files will take up more memory on disk.

- To change the cosmetics on any vampire form, go to the Vampire Powers menu.
- You can change the cosmetics for Vampire Horses by equipping different saddles that can be crafted at a Leatherworking Station.
