In V Rising, time management is vital—especially for vampires vulnerable to sunlight. The day-night cycle governs when it's safe to travel and when the sun poses a lethal threat. Knowing how long the sun is out—and how this can change based on server settings—is essential for survival.
Default Day-Night Cycle
The in-game time is displayed on a clock near the minimap, clearly marking when day and night begin. By default:
- Daytime lasts from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM in-game time
- Nighttime spans 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM in-game time
On Medium server settings (with medium length and day/night balance), this translates to:
- Full cycle: 18 minutes (1080 seconds)
- Daytime: 6 minutes, 45 seconds (360 seconds)
- Nighttime: 11 minutes, 15 seconds (720 seconds)
During daylight hours, vampires take damage if exposed to direct sunlight. Use terrain, shadows, or items like Mist Braziers to protect yourself.
Important: The game issues visual and audio cues shortly before sun exposure becomes dangerous, giving you a brief window to find shelter.
Blood Moon Event
Every 18 in-game days, a Blood Moon event occurs during nighttime. This temporarily boosts vampiric powers and creates a strategic opportunity for combat or exploration.
Custom Server Settings
Server admins can customise both the total day length and the balance between day and night, dramatically affecting gameplay pacing. Below is a breakdown of how real-time durations change with each setting:
