As you progress through V Rising, your inventory will naturally fill with outdated or unused weapons, armor, and tools. Instead of discarding these items, you can salvage them into valuable raw materials, a great way to recycle resources and maintain inventory efficiency.
However, salvaging isn’t available immediately at the start of the game. This guide walks you through how salvaging works, how to unlock the necessary structure, and what items can be salvaged.
How to Unlock Salvaging
To salvage items, you will need to construct the Devourer, a special refinement chest designed to break gear down into base components.
1. Build a Blood Altar
To begin, you must build the Blood Altar, which is essential for tracking bosses and unlocking blueprints like the Devourer.
- Build it inside your castle via the Build > Production > Dominance menu.
- Interact with it to see a list of V Blood bosses available for tracking.
2. Defeat Lidia the Chaos Archer
The Devourer blueprint is unlocked by defeating Lidia the Chaos Archer, a Level 26 V Blood boss. To locate her:
- Open your Blood Altar.
- Select Lidia the Chaos Archer from the list.
- Click Track Blood.
- Follow the red scent trail to find and defeat her.
🧛 Pro Tip: Lidia uses chaos-based ranged attacks, prepare for mobility and interruption skills.
3. Craft the Devourer
Once unlocked, return to your castle and construct the Devourer under:
- Build > Production > Refinement
Crafting Requirements:
- 12 × Planks
- 6 × Copper Ingots
Place the Devourer in your base and interact with it to begin salvaging.
How to Salvage Items
Using the Devourer is simple:
- Interact with the Devourer chest.
- Drag any salvageable item (e.g., old gear, weapons, or armor) into one of the input slots.
- The item will be automatically broken down into base crafting materials (e.g., Copper Ingots, Leather).
- Collected resources will appear in the output slot.
Items must be marked as "Salvageable" in their tooltip to be eligible.
What Can Be Salvaged?
You can typically salvage:
- Outdated weapons and armor
- Tools and crafted gear
- Certain drops that serve no other purpose
Keep an eye out for the “Salvageable” tag in an item’s description.
Why Salvage?
- Reclaim valuable resources from outdated gear
- Free up inventory and storage space
- Optimize castle resource management
- Create a circular economy for your crafting needs
